To the first page of Steve's old truck story: The fresh engine and the fresh cab in Arizona. 10 years later, I'm still not done... The cab taken in North Dakota a few years ago. By this time, I have the Mercury Transmission with O/D installed. that was a bunch of work. I had to manufacture a new transmission cross member. Front disk brakes on the stock axle, and a mustang power brake setup. The Ford 9" rear end installed. It was borrowed from a 67-72 F-100. I replaced all the brake hardware and bearings. Put a drain plug in it, reverse-eye leaf springs with a few removed. I haven't decided if this ratio and springs will be the final set-up, I have to see how it handles first. I adapted a spare tire holder from a later model truck on it, and also a battery tray from a Chevy. A little modification and it fit well. Here is the bed wood being done. The new bed. All 100% of it has been replaced. The bed wood before the strips and after. All done.. except for the next coat of paint to cover up my screw-ups! Here is the bed finally on the truck! The bed and the tinted rear window. |
