Headed off to the Grand Canyon. Even after getting north of Phoenix, the
traffic didn’t clear up. We stopped and helped a couple with their car,
nothing really wrong, just a little hot and I think it effected the
transmission. We stopped at a rest area and called to reserve a room in Kingman,
just in case. Motel 6 full; Super 8 to the rescue. We cut through Sedona, and
being that it was the forth of July weekend, the people were thick. We didn’t
stop, for there was no parking for a Ford towing a trailer; so we drove through
Oak Creek Canyon and up to the Grand Canyon.

The scenery of the canyon was the
best I had seen in years. Nice clouds to give some contrast to the canyon and
the late afternoon sun added some beautiful shadows. These wild (?) deer were
hanging out at the Grand Canyon Hotel.

Heading south, we stopped and bought some Jerky, Aaron’s weakness.

I also
stopped and took this picture; Aaron said we didn’t need another picture, but
many people have commented on it.Stopped
at Bedrock south, and bought some souvenirs. We got into Kingman late and got some sleep

We slept in a little later than normal; it was only another 90 miles to
Vegas, our next stop. I let these Mini's pass me for the picture
